TOWN MEETING at the Pink Garter Theatre

AUGUST 8
Cocktail Hour 6pm
Live Auction 7pm

In an effort to support Tumbleweed Creative Arts and our ambitious refurbishment of the historic Pink Garter Theatre, we are inviting local residents to our unique fundraising event: Town Meeting, a live memorabilia auction and cocktail hour celebrating local culture and history.

We’d love to have you join us at the “Town Meeting”, a heartfelt celebration honoring Jackson’s history in an effort to help us refurbish and preserve our cherished local stage. We kick off the night with a cocktail hour, featuring favorite recipes from the Lame Duck Chinese Restaurant.

At 7pm, we will show a short film about Pink Garter history, and then famed “auctiontainer” Letitia Frye will host a live auction with 22 lots comprised of priceless memorabilia from Jackson's past as well as other Jackson-centric items. Lots include old menus and merchandise from shuttered restaurants, vintage tourist wear from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, old ski maps from JHMR’s early days, a 1/2 a beef from Lockhart Cattle Company, and few extremely rare signed prints of C.G. Morehead's painting of the original Pink Garter Theatre, in all its pink “Pepto Bismol" glory, from 1965.

As we rally together to protect and preserve our town's unique local spirit, we remember the words once printed on all Pink Garter advertising: "If you miss the Pink Garter, you miss Jackson." This phrase, emblematic of the theatre's golden age, still holds true today. We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday, August 8th.
